The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Provincial Committee (CCPIT-Hainan) has announced that it will hold an event aimed at fostering economic and trade dialogue between China's Hainan Province and Japan's Hyogo Prefecture. The "Hainan-Hyogo Economic and Trade Dialogue" will be held in Hyogo Prefecture between May 23rd and 25th as part of a series of Hainan-related activities organized by China's national pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka.

According to CCPIT-Hainan, the event will provide the opportunity for Hainan to introduce the Hainan Free Trade Port's latest achievements and development opportunities and for Hyogo to showcase its economic features and leading industries. It will also enable both sides to look back at their history of cooperation and express their intent to expand bilateral economic and trade exchanges and deepen sister province relations.

Since establishing friendly province relations in 1990, Hainan and Hyogo have maintained frequent economic and trade exchanges. In recent years, Hainan has sent teams to Hyogo to research the prefecture's experiences and practices in areas such as ecological protection and aquatic product logistics and meet with local enterprises and overseas Chinese communities to coordinate pragmatic exchanges. Hyogo has also invited relevant agencies of the Hainan Provincial Government to Japan to hold policy information sessions and assist in introducing quality products to the Chinese market.

People-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two regions are also flourishing, deepening friendly relations between the sister provinces. The Hyogo Ikebana (flower arranging) Association organized a flower-arranging course at the Hainan Agriculture School, and youths from Hyogo Prefecture have had the opportunity to experience traditional Chinese tea culture and the Li ethnic bamboo dance at colleges in Hainan. In addition, an exhibition and seminar on Hainan's intangible cultural heritage was held at the Hyogo Prefectural International Exchange Center.
